Cygnets are hatching
The Cygnets are hatching!!
The first cygnet hatched at Abbotsbury Swannery on the 4 May. The first cygnet hatching is said to herald the beginning of Summer
The Swannery at Abbotsbury is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans, spread over a site of some 25 acres. A visit to the Swannery is considered one of the best things to do in Dorset.
The Swannery was established by Benedictine Monks who built a monastery at Abbotsbury during the 1040s.
So if your family is looking for unusual things to do on holiday in Dorset, visit the Swannery and help hand feed 600 swans at 12.00 noon and 4.00pm daily, or get lost in the giant maze (the largest willow maze in Dorset, opens May half term). Parking is free!
The Swannery is just one of 3 family attractions in Abbotsbury.
Abbotsbury Childrens Farm where there are lots of animals for the children to meet as well as a large indoor play area. Special Events such as Meet the Owls and Bugfest go on throughout the year.
Then there is the world famous Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens.

The Garden is a mixture of formal and informal flowers, world famous for its Camellia groves and magnolias. Noted in Dorset for its rhododendron and hydrangea collections and the charming Victorian Garden.
