Not only is Dorset a beautiful county with its dramatic coastline and wonderful countryside but it has a wealth of locally grown and produced food, wine, beer, cider and even vodka

To show off these wonderful products there are several great food festivals all easily accessible when you are enjoying your staycation at Gorselands

 

Abbotsbury Food Festival 11 April 2020

 

Working together with Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, Dorset Food & Drink are excited to present Abbotsbury Food Fair returning this year for another day of food and flora.

Abbotsbury Food Fair is an event not to be missed, combining the best of the local Dorset food scene and the beauty of the gardens. Discover over 30 stalls showcasing distinctively Dorset produce while exploring the stunning Spring colours of the gardens.

 

Bridport Food Festival 14 -20 June 2020

 

A week-long celebration of local food and drink in and around Bridport

If you are passionate about food and where it comes from then you are in for a real treat again at this year’s Bridport Food Festival.   Throughout the week the whole town and surrounding area will be celebrating local food and drink. 

Food and drink producers are opening their doors to the public to showcase what they do;  restaurants, cafes and pubs are putting on special menus alongside lots of other activities including master classes, quizzes and tastings. The popular Taste Trail takes place from 1st June – 20th June when participating venues put on special menus and offers for visitors to try. 

The week culminates with the main celebration at Asker Meadows where over 60 local food & drink producers and food-to- go caterers are joined by the Bridport Round Tables’ Beer Festival . 

 

Nyetimber Dorset Seafood Festival 11-12 July 2020

 

Free to attend, this much loved event pops up around Weymouth’s famous historic harbour-side, offering English Sparkling Wine and seafood and family entertainment.

Taste fresh seafood dishes from nearly 100 stalls around the beautiful harbour, or simply relax with a bottle of Nyetimber English Sparkling Wine.   

Whether you’re just happy to wander, sampling and enjoying great food and local produce, sipping Nyetimber watching the boats go by or whether you’d prefer to listen to seafood experts debate the future of our seas, there is something for everyone. 

 

Great Dorset Chilli Festival 1-2 Aug 2020

 

The Hottest Day Out In Dorset - The Great Dorset Chilli Festival - Wimborne St Giles, Dorset Food Festival

We are looking forward to another great weekend in 2020 for chilli enthusiasts, food lovers and families. Held with the kind permission of the Earl of Shaftesbury at St Giles Park, we'll line up a glorious weekend of "chilli fiesta", with stalls selling all things chilli, from pepper plants to cayenne condiments; seeds to ceramics; plus cooking demonstrations; talks on growing chillies; artisan food producers; music; spicy street food; local ice creams to cool the mouth; local beers to slake the thirst.
We'll have some of the most dedicated independent sauce manufacturers and retailers attending and some of the country's best specialist chilli growers to showcase their plants and seeds to thousands of visitors at what is sure to be 2020's hottest event in Dorset. The development of the Dorset Naga, at one time reputed to be the world's hottest chilli, has really put Dorset on the map for chilli enthusiasts. Come and join us at this fun, friendly festival!

 

Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival 12-13 Sept

 

Cheese Festival with 60+ traditional food stalls, 60+ craft stalls, real ale and real cider tents.

Live music, Punch and Judy, Morris dancing, children’s entertainment and of course plenty of cheese making, cheese tasting, cookery demonstrations and cheese related events.

 

Lyme Regis Food Rocks 5-6 Sept 2020

 

A two-day food extravaganza founded by Mark Hix celebrating the fantastic food and drink produced in the South West. The festival brings together top chefs, exhibitors, suppliers and local producers and showcases a diverse mix of interactive cookery demonstrations, talks and tastings across the weekend.
The event is free to attend and all money raised is donated to the RNLI and the Fishermen’s Mission.
