Access Statement For Gorselands Caravan Park
Introduction
We are a small family run business with both private ownership and holiday letting caravans. We are situated close to the sea, on a hillside overlooking Chesil Beach.
Pre-Arrival
• We have a full colour brochure and a website and are contactable by telephone, fax and email.
We are 6 miles from Bridport and there is a bus stop 100m from the Park entrance on the main B3157 road.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• The tarmac entrance road leads to the main car park has space for 15 cars and is approx 50m in to the Park. From the car park there is an uphill walk to the paved walkway (3 steps & slope), leading down to the Reception, Shop & Launderette building. There is a handrail for support until you reach the level path. The telephone kiosk is situated on the far end on the building. This entire access route is well lit at night. There is a dog tie loop on the wall to the left of the slope down to Reception.
Main Entrance & Reception
• Both Reception and Launderette doors are double width UPVC doors with a small threshold and the telephone kiosk is a single UPVC opening outward with a small threshold.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
• Reception area has some seating and displays a full range of visitor attraction leaflets. This leads in to the shop and is all on the same level.
Public Areas - WC
• There is a toilet at the rear of the Launderette room, single door access on same level.
Laundry
• The laundry room has one top loading washing machine and one front loading tumble dryer, plus an adjustable height ironing board. There is a fluorescent light for use of the facility during the evening. At the rear of the room there is a toilet.
Shop
• The shop is accessible from the Reception area and is a small kiosk type area all on the same level.
Outdoor Facilities
• There are wooden benches for taking in the views from the park. One is situated above the car park and is reached either directly from the car park by 5 concrete steps or via a sloping grass pathway which is accessible from halfway along the tarmac road leading towards Reception. There is another on the grass to the left of the pathway down to the Reception. This is accessible across the sloping grass.
Caravans, Holiday Homes & Twin Units
• Some caravans have car parking adjacent to the caravan others require the car to be parked in the nearest available parking area. Distance will vary.
• Most caravans have 4 tread metal steps with a handrail leading into the caravan.
• Due to the sloping nature of the park some access points are not so straight forward and your requirements should be fully discussed before booking. All caravans have television with teletext.
